This spring, we met twice in a cosy circle of like-minded people, as well as visitors to our Taiji courses, to strengthen our health.
The seminars were led by Dr. Liang Wenming - Master of Traditional Chinese Exercise at Beijing Sports University, Doctor of Biophysics at the Life Sciences Centre of Vilnius University, and Certified Second Class Health Qigong Instructor.
The first workshop was dedicated to the World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, which took place on the last Saturday of April as it does every year.
The aim of this workshop was to introduce breathing exercises and teach reverse abdominal breathing in Taiji Chen style. In the first part of the event, the instructor introduced the six healing sounds: we repeated the three we had learnt earlier, and learnt the other three sounds: Si (呬), Chui (吹) and Xi (嘻)
The aim of these exercises is to train the body through sound vibration, by stimulating the brain, abdominal muscles, chest and limbs.
In the second part, we practiced Tai Chi and learnt three movements from Chen style: Beizhekao, back bending (背折靠), Baiyuanxianguo, white monkey giving fruit (白猿献果), Yunvchuansuo, jade maiden with shuttlecock (玉女穿梭)
The aim of these exercises: to feel the power pass through the whole body, to improve coordination and stability.
The second health workshop, which took place in May, was for advanced qigong and taiji practitioners and qigong instructors. We discussed the details of reverse abdominal breathing and how breathing and awareness affect every movement. We then discussed each movement and tried to evaluate it based on modern medical theory and using additional practical methods to correct irregular movements.
We welcome people who care about health. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next events.
