An International Chinese Language Day was celebrated at the Confucius Institute of Vilnius University on 20th April.

On this occasion, we invited students, friends, and all those interested in Chinese culture to participate in the day's events.

First, we listened to an online lecture on modern online Chinese, "The Buzzwords on Chinese Social Channels ", given by Assoc. Prof. HE Xiaojia (何晓嘉副教授), lecturer at our partner university, the Shanghai East China Normal University.

When learning Chinese as a foreign language, it can be seen that the Chinese language is changing with the changing society. While different age groups have certain communication styles and use certain words, written language on the internet is a completely separate field. In this lecture, the speaker presented some of the most common online expressions used by young people, and introduced the categories of these expressions, focusing on some expressions related to food and animals.

In the second part, we invited students and guests to take part in a quiz competition about Chinese culture and language. We were delighted with the large and varied audience, who actively answered questions and interacted with their peers.

We hope that this day has helped to broaden your knowledge of Chinese culture.
