On 25th March at the initiative of the Confucius Institute of Vilnius University, the Confucius class was opened at the KTU Engineering Lyceum (S. Lozoraičio St.). This is the second class of Confucius in Lithuania and the first in Kaunas.
The virtual event was attended by Onutė Jankauskaitė and prof. Zhou Jie, directors of the VU Confucius Institute from Lithuania and China, Representative of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China Adviser Mr. Baihua Qu, lyceum director dr. Dainius Žvirdauskas, Deputy for Education and Curator of the Chinese Language Curriculum at the Lyceum Vilda Kiaunytė, lyceum students and teachers. The event featured greetings from honorable guests, a film about lyceum was presented, a Confucius class plate was unveiled, and high school students who learned Chinese here decorated the event by reciting ancient Chinese poems. After the solemn part prof. Chinese has been taught at the lyceum since 2015, and classes are currently taking place at Lozoraičio st. , and Vaidoto st. buildings. Teachers Rūta Marija Milbutaitė (S. Lozoraičio St.) and Karolis Sabeckis (Vaidoto St.) teach more than 30 students from 5th to 12th grade.
We are sincerely glad to contribute to the teaching of the Chinese language and the spreading of Chinese culture. We thank the lyceum for many years of continuous cooperation and we hope for beautiful projects in the future!
